I start out by putting the outside sensor next to the base unit for a few hours to see if there is a difference in temperatures. In other units I have seen as many as 5 degrees of difference, in this unit there was only a decimal point of difference. I mounted the outside sensor in the shade but exposed to the outside air and it almost immediately registered both temperatures.All in all, this is an excellent unit. It is inexpensive, accurate and easy to use. I got initial readings for both indoor & outdoor temperatures, and some subsequent updates while the receiver and transmitter were about 2 feet away from each other. But shortly after installing the transmitter outside (about 30 feet away), the receiver lost the signal and was not able to pick it up again. So I pulled all the batteries and did the whole startup sequence again. I got good outdoor readings for about half a day and now I'm getting nothing from the outdoor transmitter again. I've tried moving the receiver to just 10 feet away from the transmitter and it still isn't able to reacquire the signal. It simply isn't reasonable to have to keep resetting the receiver and transmitter with battery pulls. I was hopeful that the claimed 260 foot range would mean it could do at least 30-40 feet reliably, but it simply isn't performing... Read more |
