The United States Postal Scales PS100 is a 10-pound Digital Electronic Postal Scale that weighs items between 0 to 10 pounds and displays the weight to .1 pounds, so the mail is not returned for insufficient postage. Weight is displayed on a 7 segment LCD. To achieve its .1-pound. Accuracy, the PS100 uses its automatic calibration feature. The Tare feature is used to set the weight of a container for small items to zero, so when the items are weighed, only the items weight are shown. A mechanical overload protector prevents damage to the scale when weighing items over 10 pounds. The weighing platform, which measures 5.5 by 5 inches, features a fold-up top for weighing oversized items, such as large flat envelopes or mailing tubes. The product is made of fine-textured, high-impact ABS plastic, The PS100 operates either on AC with the included adapter or on a 9-volt battery (Not Included), and features a 1 minute warm up time. When operated on the battery, an auto shut off features turns the PS100 off after 5 minutes to conserve battery life.

It tracks weight, body fat, muscle, visceral fat and what age it thinks your body is (as opposed to pure biological age). Additionally, it stores the highest value for each of those items over time, so you can see how you are trending; which is exceptionally useful. The reason I took a star away from a perfect score, is a small detail about the body fat calculations. Typical BIA devices generally modify the calculation for how much body fat you have, based on if you meet the guidelines they typically call "athlete" (meaning that you exercise more than 5 hours a week at a fairly intense level). This BIA device does NOT provide that functionality. If you fit the category of a regular intense exerciser and are female, you will find that it estimates a body fat percentage up to 5% more on this device than other BIA devices which have the athlete calculation (such as the Omron hand held... This review is from: Omron Body Composition Monitor With Scale (Sports) Go with the 510 if you don't want resting metabolism (or estimated age). Go with the 500 if you want resting metabolism (and NOT estimated age). Go with the 516 if you want resting metabolism AND estimated body age. HOWEVER, IN MY EXPERIENCE I would caution you that I have both 510 and 516 and learned in comparing the two scales that the 516 does NOT give ANY parameters besides weight (like percent body fat) if your ESTIMATED body age is greater than 80 (probably is over 80 if you actually are over 60 and out of shape or actually over 40 and really out of shape). Tried my mom (62) on both and the HBF-516 kept giving error code "ERR 4", parameters out of range or something like that. BUT the HBF-510 didn't error out and gave her percent body fat and other things (except estimated body age and resting metabolism of course). I tried both scales myself immediately after her and the 510 and 516 worked just fine and yielded all expected variables for each model, go figure. It's important to read the instructions--it will pay off to do so--but once you've read the directions, it's very easy to use. It's lightweight. The functions help you monitor your body composition and make adjustments in your diet to increase muscle mass and decrease body fat by monitoring your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and helps you determine the number of calories your body requires to maintain a healthy weight. The visceral fat measurement is a bonus to help you determine your risk of serious health issues. By that I mean, she tried this scale and didn't like it because she said that she weighed several pounds more standing on it than our other scale registered. So now I have my very own scale, which I think is more accurate than the old one by 1.5 pounds. I have weighed myself at the same time every morning since I got the scale (right after showering) and it has shown me the same numbers consistently. I'm very happy with it. So why 4 stars instead of 5? The Omron Digital Slim Scale is so sensitive that even the slightest irregularity in the floor throws the accuracy off. In my case, by over 20 pounds! Just be careful where you place it. I chose this scale because of the advertised slimness, and it is slim. It sits very low to the ground. It's also attractive and sleek looking. BUT it's very big around--bigger than it needs to be I think--and takes quite a bit of space in the bathroom. My other issue is that it sometimes won't settle on a weight and flits back and forth between different weights. When it does settle on one weight, the display does last a good length of time. The last issue I found is that I can weigh myself several times in a row (within a minute or two) and get slightly different results. Would only recommend this if you really like the slimness, otherwise there are more accurate scales that take up less room. This sleek looking scale sits flat on four small corner pads and provides a large digital read out. What I especially liked were the clearly written directions (in English). They were concise, well organized, and easy to follow. I first tried this scale on my tile bathroom floor next to my old standby scale calibrated to my doctor's scale. Unfortunately, the Omron scale registered 3 lbs. higher. That will never do! I then moved it to my walk-in closet hard wood floor where it registered exactly what the old scale registered. Whew....I didn't need a new scale that arbitrarily put on weight! I think the Omron scale is so sensitive that the slight rough surface of the large tile impacted the weight registration.
